What is the difference between leisure, recreation, and tourism?

Leisure, recreation, and tourism are all related activities, but have distinct differences. Leisure is the free time a person has to do what they want, whereas recreation is the active use of leisure time in a structured way, such as through sports or hobbies. Tourism, on the other hand, is when someone travels away from home for pleasure. It is also an economically significant sector, in which activities like sightseeing, accommodation, and transportation are provided for people on holiday. In summary, leisure is the free time a person has, recreation is an active use of leisure time, and tourism is travelling away from home for pleasure.
