WhatsApp Web to get new calls button, attachment icons, and more

WhatsApp is developing a lot of new features for its mobile app but now we hear that WhatsApp is reportedly designing new icons for WhatsApp Web too. The reports have claimed that WhatsApp is rolling out new video and voice call icons for the web app and the messaging app is also testing a new loading screen.

As per Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is experimenting with voice and video calls button on the web version of the app. This is also an indication that WhatsApp web will soon get a video calling facility on the app and users will even get the option of calling from the WhatsApp Web. The feature is currently being developed and once the feature is successfully tested, the feature will be made available for the wider audience.

Apart from that, WhatsApp features tracked has spotted some new icons on the share sheet. Wabetainfo has shared a screenshot of the new icons of Messenger Rooms, contacts, camera and gallery that WhatsApp is developing for WhatsApp Web. Instead of grey and white icons, users will get to see icons similar to the ones that appear on their Android phones.

WhatsApp is also developing a new loading screen for WhatsApp Web. “WhatsApp was working on a new loading screen, probably for the new feature that will allow using the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices. In this update, WhatsApp is still working on the new screen (so it’s not available yet), but they have added a new label, indicating that the process is end-to-end encrypted,” the Wabetainfo read. In the screenshot, it can be seen that the entire process of screen loading is end-to-end encrypted.

As of now, users can only use WhatsApp simultaneously on their primary device and their desktop. This new loading screen feature would let users access their recent messages on both the devices. WhatsApp has been long-speculated to be working on the multi-device support that would allow users to log into five devices using a single account. This means that without having to create a separate account for every device, users can log in to multiple devices using a single account

WhatsApp is also working on a couple of other features including the vacation mode, auto-archive chats. The Vacation mode feature that WhatsApp seems to be working on for over a year now will allow users to mute notifications from archived chats.
