Windows 10 can now run apps from your Samsung Galaxy Phone

Windows 10 is now capable of running mobile apps from some Android devices. The lucky few, in this case, are select Samsung Galaxy devices, like the recently announced Galaxy Note 20 series.

In an update which began rolling out on Saturday, Microsoft has added a new functionality inside Your Phone app enabling you to run Android apps from your PC. The feature allows you to navigate through mobile apps from your PC using different input methods of your liking – whether its by touch, keyboard or using a mouse.

And every app works as it would on an Android device whether its that food delivery app, or the mobile-only social media network. Also, in addition to running apps, you can pin favourite apps on the Start menu or Taskbar for easier access.

The recent update to Your Phone app has also added multitasking capabilities — two apps can also be run simultaneously in two separate windows.

Your Phone app’s latest update was hinted at the second annual Galaxy Unpacked event that was held earlier this month. At the event, Samsung revealed a deepening relationship with Microsoft. Samsung’s continued partnership with Microsoft continues to tighten the integration between premium Galaxy devices and Windows OS.

Because of that, the new functionality is currently only available on some Galaxy devices with the latest Link to Windows integration and should be running at least Android 9.0 Pie or later. Besides that, the phone and the computer must be connected to the same WIFI network.

For other device owners, Microsoft’s Your Phone app can also help link your phone to your Windows 10 PC, although the functionality is limited.
