Apple Launches New iPhone SE

Apple has officially launched its newest smartphone, the iPhone SE – modelled on the original 2016 design – which Apple says is “just what you have been waiting for”.

According to Apple, “the iPhone SE packs our most powerful chip into our most popular size at our most affordable price”. The chip they’re referring to is Apple’s own A13 Bionic processor – this is the same chip that powers both the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro.

The iPhone SE is made up of a glass and aluminium frame which houses a 4.7-inch Retina HD LCD display with Haptic Touch support and a physical home button positioned on the bottom of the device with TouchID fingerprint scanner support.

Other physical features include its single 12MP camera, the same single camera as the iPhone 8 and iPhone XR, which can shoot in 4K.

The device supports iOS 13, WiFi 6, LTE connectivity and eSIM functionality along with wireless charging. Apple says iPhone SE’s battery will last “the same as an iPhone 8” which is roughly 13 hours of use.

The device comes in Apple’s usual 64GB, 128GB or 256GB options and will be available in white, black or red (Product Red) on pre-order.

The iPhone SE official release date is 24 April but it will be available for pre-order from 17 April. The device is expected to go for around $399, $449 and $549 respectively.
