Safaricom Plans To Launch Device Financing Models For PostPay Customers

After unveiling their new PostPay plans yesterday, Safaricom announced that they plan to bring financing models for smartphones. Through this, PostPay customers will be able to obtain devices on credit and pay them on a 12-month contract.

“We have big surprises for our PostPay customers in the near future where we plan to offer additional destinations for international calling and also unveil a device financing model where customers can get a device as part of their PostPay plan,” said Sylvia Mulinge, Chief Customer Officer at Safaricom.

The device financing model on contracts will be leveraged by users to get devices of their choice. The plan will include high-end smartphones like the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S20 series.

Like how it’s done in other countries, a device payment program will require you to enter into a payment agreement to finance the device until you’ve finally paid off the required amount fully.

We will update when the company shares more details on the same.
