Nokia 9.2 Launch Reportedly Delayed Due To Switch To Snapdragon 865

The Nokia 9 PureView was Nokia’s ambitious attempt at making a camera phone, unlike anything we’d ever seen. But for a flagship phone that launched in 2019, it was still using a flagship processor that launched in 2018. According to a leakster, Nokia is trying to avoid that by further delaying the launch of the rumoured Nokia 9.2 to accommodate the recently-unveiled Snapdragon 865.

Previous rumours indicated that the Nokia 9.2, successor to the Nokia 9 PureView, would be powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor. Complimenting that would be a 5G version that would have the slightly overclocked Snapdragon 855+. This new tip makes it seem like there will only be one variant of the phone that will be powered by a Snapdragon 865 processor and have support for 5G.

Also, if you’re wondering where’s the Nokia 9.1, don’t worry, it doesn’t exist (yet). It’s said that Nokia will jump the number to keep the number in line with the rest of the Nokia lineup.

Originally, the phone was said to launch in the fourth quarter of 2019 (or earlier). The launch was then said to be pushed back to Q2 of 2020. Now, to include the Snapdragon 865 processor, the phone is now said to launch in autumn later this year. There’s no official confirmation on whether the phone will have a similar camera setup to its predecessor. But we can expect the phone to bring something different to the table in this aspect.

Recently, at the Snapdragon Tech Summit, Nokia teased the launch of a phone powered by the Snapdragon 765 processor. The phone is a mid-ranger and seems to have a triple-camera setup, housed in a circular module as we’ve seen on the Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2.
