Facebook is just Facebook, but that is not true. The parent company, Facebook Inc., owns three different social media platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp, and well, Facebook.
However, to avoid this ongoing confusion between the parent company and the social media platform, Facebook’s corporate company has decided to change the logo.
“The new branding was designed for clarity, and uses custom typography and capitalization to create a visual distinction between the company and app,” a statement read on the company’s blog.
The company’s new logo still features the word Facebook, but now in all capital letters and a new font.
The colours are still a representation of the three social media platforms with a gradient mixture of Blue (For Facebook), Green (for WhatsApp), and red and orange (for Instagram).
This move, according to the company, is to make people aware of who runs the show. “People should know which companies make the products they use,” Facebook said in a blog post on Monday.
Facebook has, in the past, included words “from Facebook” on both Instagram and WhatsApp because it has been apparent that many people do not know if these two platforms are still under Facebook Inc.
But from now on, that will be amplified a bit to become more noticeable.
The company will, as of the coming weeks, use the new logo on all its products and marketing materials.
